Animals of Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons NPs
September 2019
09/02/2019 - 09/24/2019
Arrived at St. Mary's campground in Glacier National Park on September 2, 2019. Hiked the Highline Trail the next day and this little marmot and Golden Mantle squirrel joined me for lunch.
Another squirrel on the Grinnell Glacier trail. Someone was feeding him, not me. And a Snowshoe Hare.
Am really cheating here, saw these mountain goats the last time we went to Glacier NP in 2015.
On to Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone to see the Elk.
Bull Elk bugling right next to the Visitor Center! Cross that off my bucket list.
This big Bull Elk was bugling in the campground.
Hiked the Beaver Ponds trail, didn't see any beaver but saw an Orb Weaver spider and a Great Grey Owl.
Took a drive through Lamar Valley and saw bison, black bear, and moose.
Lots of bison in Yellowstone.
Mule deer and Grey Jay.
Then on to the Grand Tetons where we saw a mama Grizzly bear and her two cubs.
We took a boat tour on Jackson lake and saw an Osprey and her nest.
Then took a hike to the Moose Ponds and saw a mama moose and her yearling.
We saw Bighorn sheep too. But not in the national park. We stopped at Valley of Fire State Park near Las Vegas on the way home.
